Photograph by @thomaspeschak A young cape für seal curiously swims up to me while I was photographing kelp forests for a @natgeo magazine story on #southafrica marine reserves. The incredibly blue water however comes at a price. Upwelling pushes cold but clear water up from the deep, with temperatures dropping as low as 8 degrees C. Even with a 5mm wetsuit my insulation properties pale in comparison to the efficiency of the seals blubber and fur combo to retain heat. #photooftheday #picoftheday #ocean @thephotosociety @natgeocreative
