Thousands of Indian Hindus come out to witness the Ganga Aarti (river worshiping ceremony) at the Har-Ki-Pairi Ghat located along the sacred Ganges river in the holy city of Haridwar, India. It is believed that Vishnu is said to have dropped heavenly nectar and left a footprint here, making this the most holiest place along the Ganges river.
This image manifested while on the National Geographic story, Sacred Water. I traveled to Hardiwar for the annual Ganga Dussehra ceremony along the banks of the sacred Ganges River. Both beautiful and mystical, over one million devout Hindus came to bath, pray along the sacred waters, presenting one of the magical events I've ever been privileged to witness.
