Photo by @james_balog. A jagged iceberg floats in the Weddell Sea, off the eastern coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. Scientists have determined that the Weddell Sea has the clearest water of any sea on the planet. Though crystal clear, the sea is dangerous. In the 1950 book The White Continent, author Thomas R. Henry notes "The Weddell Sea is, according to the testimony of all who have sailed through its berg-filled waters, the most treacherous and dismal region on earth."
